"The past is never dead. It's not even past. All of us labor in webs spun long before we were born, webs of heredity and environment, of desire and consequence, of history and eternity. Haunted by wrong turns and roads not taken, we pursue images perceived as new but whose providence dates to the dim dramas of childhood, which are themselves ripples of consequence echoing down the generations. The quotidian demands of life distract from this resonance of images and events, but some of us feel it always." -WILLIAM FAULKNER

More About the Author

Ever since she was a kid, Therese has had a curiosity about the past. She was fascinated by the old cars and abandoned houses on her grandparents' property, and at the age of ten, after finding a buffalo nickel and rusted Fanta cap in the floorboards of an old truck, decided she wanted to be an archaeologist. She did go on to earn a degree in Anthropology with a minor in History, but ended up teaching middle school, where she dug up the past using documents instead of a trowel. At one point in her life, her family referred to her as 'The Well of Scholarly Knowledge' because she would tell them everything she learned that day over the dinner table. In addition to loving history, Therese has a fondness for writing poetry, reading books, and drinking coffee. You can read about what she has been reading at her other blog, Read.Enjoy.Repeat!
